eWise - December 2019

As we draw closer to the end of 2019, we start looking forward to a new year and reflect on the positive year it has been at WISE Workplace.

Since the start of 2019 we have continued to see developments in the areas of workplace and employment. Together with our clients, WISE confronted and designed solutions to the challenges that emerge within modern workplaces.

In March, we were proud sponsors of the National HR Summit, held at Luna Park Sydney. This was a fantastic opportunity to share ideas, strategies and insights with various HR professionals from across Australia.

In July, in preparation of the Whistleblower Legislative changes, WISE published a free White Paper for organisations to educate themselves on how the changes impact their obligations. Encouragingly, we also saw growth in our Grapevine Whistleblowing services!

In August, WISE for the 11th consecutive year, joined HR professionals from around Australia at the AHRI National Convention and Exhibition. WISE contributed to discussions regarding the latest updates on matters impacting workplaces.

We would like to thank our clients for their continued support, and we wish everyone the best for a happy holiday season. We look forward to working with you in 2020!

If you are interested in reading our blogs regularly they are released weekly on our Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn social media pages - simply search for WISE Workplace on your chosen social platform.

We will be taking a break from social media and blogs for a few weeks over Christmas, but are looking forward to coming back in mid-January with some insights, and updates to help your organisation with effective HR management.

Rules of Evidence in Workplace Investigations

By Vince Scopelliti

Although workplace investigations are not expected to be conducted in the same way a police investigation, it is essential to keep in mind the principles of evidence which might apply. This is particularly important against a backdrop where many workplace investigations end up in the Fair Work Commission or otherwise in a contentious, litigated setting.

Responding to Bad Behaviour at the Christmas Party

By Vince Scopelliti

It's no secret that both the good and the bad can be on display at the annual work Christmas party. While smiles and good cheer can and should be the main features at an end-of-year bash, some unfortunate behaviour can also arise.

Dealing with Pornography in the Workplace

By Vince Scopelliti

Unsurprisingly, the access to pornography can be extremely problematic in the workplace. Not only does the access to pornography at work open up a minefield of possible harassment and other sexually motivated complaints, it contributes significantly to presenteeism (where staff are physically present but not concentrating on their jobs).
